Ave is a feeling before it's a place. It's the pause you've been needing — a small community of people slowing down together, finding their way back to themselves. A retreat with Ave isn't really about the address; it's about who you become while you're there: a little more rested, a little more connected, a little closer to your own spark. Our locations are simply where that community comes together — today in Aruba, and in time, wherever we grow next.
What Inspired Ave
Why We Built a Nest in Aruba
I was born and raised right here in Aruba — save for three years studying abroad in England. My family's roots on this island run deep: my grandfather's family made their way from India to the Caribbean in the 1920s, first to Curaçao, and in the 1980s my parents moved to Aruba, where I was born alongside my two siblings.
Yoga and meditation have been part of my family for generations, going back to my grandfather — but it wasn't until 2017, when I found myself needing space to breathe, that they became truly mine. That search led me to the foothills of the Himalayas in India, where I completed my yoga teacher training. What I found there changed how I move through life, and I knew I wanted to share it.
The idea for Ave was born in 2018 — more a lump of playdough than a plan, waiting for time to shape it. Since then, a regular practice has given me more structure, contentment, and peace, not because life stops throwing storms, but because I've learned to stay steadier through them. As Denzel Washington once put it, "this too shall pass." Ave is my way of building a place to share the tools for that journey — and the people to go through it with.
The Location
Right now, that's Westpunt, Aruba — a short walk from Boca Catalina beach, alongside Sita, a Himalayan-tradition retreat center, and Sattva, a wellness marketplace connecting travelers with local practitioners. Together they form one small wellness ecosystem on the island. But the place is really just where the community gathers — as Ave grows, the address may change; the feeling won't.

Hash spends most of his time keeping the trade and production businesses he runs in Aruba humming — but yoga, meditation, and this island have always been where his heart is. During retreats you'll find him wearing every hat: host, handyman, fire-putter-outer, adventure planner, and philosophy-sharer over coffee. Day to day, he's handling operations, doing some of the cooking, and sharing the culture of the island he calls home.
